The Truth About Spray Tans

The dreaded orange oompa loompa tan. The streaking and blotchiness. Yuck!

I totally get it and I was right there with you before I learned that airbrush spray tans can actually be AMAZING.

I attended International Beauty Show in Las Vegas in July 2022 and decided to take a class and get my first spray tan at the Norvell booth. To my surprise, it was fast, smelled good and had me admiring myself in the mirror for a week!

Here's what I learned that blew me away and had me decide to actually get certified in airbrush spray tanning with Norvell:

• One of the biggest keys to getting an even, natural looking tan is to prep the skin ahead of time. Exfoliation- a must. Wiping the skin down with a warm, damp towel right before the service- the secret. A Ph balancing spray before every tan- YES.

• Violet based formulas that give the skin a beautiful, natural-looking glow without looking like an oompa loompa.

• Precautions are taken to avoid the obvious spray tanned look-- a light dusting on the face, hands, forearms and feet, as those areas are a dead giveaway of a spray tan.

• Gone are the days of needing to wait 24+ hours to shower. There are express versions now available!

After having experienced one for myself (after a bad "Mystic spray tan" in the stand-up machine years ago), I was hooked! I realize airbrush spray tans are amazing for the following:

• Those of you who are committed to limiting your exposure to harmful UVB/UVA rays but enjoy having a glow to your skin

• Bachelorette parties, wedding parties!

• Models and Instagram influencers before their photoshoots

• Dancers and entertainers (males too!)

• Right before you go on vacation or honeymoon

• Regular people who love to have a splash of color or even a dark, sultry tan, any time of the year!

What I would LOVE to do would be to do mobile services for larger groups such as bachelorette parties. Or go to the strip club on a Thursday before the weekend rush and spray all of the dancers. I have a pop-up tent, with an extraction fan so there will be no worries of the bronzer getting in the environment! You can even come to me once a week and you'll look amazing every day of the week!
