So what's the deal with Ammonia, PPD and Resorcinol?
Ammonia: is used to swell and open the outer layer of the hair. For anyone with sensitive skin or scalp, this is an unhealthy additive. It can cause red eyes, irritation and has a strong odor. Not just that, but ammonia also makes the hair more and more porous over time, which leads to tangling, breakage, haircolor that fades fast and a lack of shine and softness.
PPD: Paraphenylenediamine is a chemical known to cause dermatitis, reddening and swelling of the scalp and face. This has been replaced which allows up to 50% of PPD allergic guests to use color safely!
Resorcinol: is a popular coloring agent toxic to wildlife and the human immune system. This has been replaced with two chemicals that are kinder to the environment and less potential for sensitive reactions.
I've personally had this haircolor used on me for the last 2 years and I've been testing out the colors on dozens of specific clients since December 2023.
Here's what my findings are of why I love this haircolor so much:
-Excellent grey coverage, with a "softer" look, which lends to a less harsh grow-out and more natural looking haircolor
-No more scalp irritation during or after having your hair colored
-Significant decrease in color fading. Clients that usually have to have their haircolor refreshed on the mid-lengths and ends every appointment, now are going 2 and 3 appointments without having to refresh.
-Ability to get blondes super blonde
-Cool-based color line, so those who love cool tones and ashy blondes, these colors are PERFECT
-Hydrates the hair and scalp so nicely, which adds to immensely shiny hair
-Clients who were losing hair, stopped losing hair and it started growing normally
-Calms frizzy hair
I'm a natural skeptic, so I was unsure how organic color would perform. After 15+ years using Redken haircolor, I'm now officially in transition to organic haircolor. It's a no-brainer. Aside from being a Hairstylist, my second passion is holistic health and wellness.
